What is AppiPure Selenium?

Selenium is an antioxidant and an essential trace mineral which is an amazing nutrient and is considered vital for good health. Selenium has only been recognised for around 50 years, it is now considered by some experts, as the most important mineral in our diet. This important mineral exists in two forms: inorganic (selenate and selenite) and organic naturally occurring (selenomethionine and selenocysteine).

Our selenium is in its purest and natural form ‘selenomethionine’ making it highly bioavailable and better absorbed by the gut than inorganic forms. Each capsule provides a daily supplementation of 200µg selenium.

Selenium offers an important role in the protection of cells from oxidative stress and aids in the normal function of the immune system. Selenium contributes to the maintenance of normal hair, skin and nails, cognitive function, normal thyroid and normal spermatogenesis. It also offers an important role in thyroid function and reproduction.

It’s only needed in small amounts but plays a major role in important processes. The suggested recommended daily dosage is 200ug, taking doses above 400ug can increase the risk of developing selenium toxicity if taken for too long.
